Im absolutely thrilled to be a part of the NOVA X exhibition – OPEN TODAY – and to have been commissioned by Central Saint Martins & MullenLowe Group to make a new body of work for it.

The last two months have been super busy but a lot of fun experimenting with film and sound recording for two new works, A Circular Economy and 100 Seconds To Midnight.

A Circular Economy – Thames River Flooding in Richmond

A Circular Economy‘ is a film documenting my journey cycling two-hundred-and-twenty-kilometres around inner London. Following The Capital Ring, one of Transport for London’s walking and cycling routes, I pass through suburban streets, shopping centres, ancient woodland, and historic landfill sites, and reflect upon author, Iain Sinclair’s, 2002 observation of the city as “mall-virus, landscape consumerism, retail landfill”, in the context of current environmental tipping points.

100 Seconds To Midnight‘ is an experimental series of six soundscapes, created using field recordings and photographs captured at ten-kilometre intervals, during my journey cycling around London. A new soundscape will be released online each Saturday, at 100 seconds to midnight, from the 18th September to 24th October 2021.

NOVA X celebrates a decade of award-winning creative practice. For ten years, Central Saint Martins and MullenLowe Group have collaborated on the MullenLowe NOVA Awards for Fresh Creative Talent to support emerging artists, designers and innovators.

Part of London Design Festival, NOVA X invites viewers to examine the many trajectories that artists and designers can take. It tells the stories of transformation, exploration, interrogation, production and tenacity that lie at the heart of professional creative practice.

Online and at Central Saint Martins this September, we share how past winners of the MullenLowe NOVA Awards have propelled their careers beyond the educational environment. Join us as we map their practices, stories and interconnections as constellations.
