Big Space V Exhibition
Another chance to show Take Me, I Will Shelter You, which was selected be part of the Big Space V CSM art programme exhibition in The Street at Kings Cross.
This was a fantastic opportunity, which gave me the chance to hang the installation in a large space, as I had envisaged it. I loved being able to react to a space, to maximise the impact of the work. Set over three floors I was able to hang the umbrellas using yacht rope from the top floor, winding their way down level by level to the looping film that was shown on a monitor hung on a freestanding plinth wall.
For me, the umbrellas worked best when viewed from below. Looking from the far end of The Street they were somewhat lost due to the vast scale of the space. Clever lighting could be a solution for this.
